What's working on Roblox
We read Roblox's top 100 games, leaving out the 10 biggest, and compared the 42 that launched in the last six months with 100 young games that stayed small. Here's what this year's hits have in common, and what doesn't seem to matter.

Hits break out in their first two months, and most are gone by month four
74% of the new hits are under 60 days old, and the typical one is 37 days old. Only 4 of 42 are older than four months. Of today's top 100, 16 launched in October, 14 in September and 8 in August, but only a handful in any earlier month: most earlier hits have already fallen out.

Today's top 100 games by the month they launched. Steal An Egg (July) is among the 10 biggest we left out.
Animals, eggs and pets are everywhere
36% of the new hits have an animal, egg or pet theme, against 10% of older top games and 10% of young games that stayed small. They're riding Steal An Egg, now the biggest game on Roblox, with titles like Break and Steal an Egg, Throw Food For Animals, Feed A Mosquito and Ride a Dino.
Puzzle, party, obby and shooter games almost never break out
None of the 42 new hits is a puzzle, party, obby or shooter game, even though they're 31% of young games that stayed small. DONT SPLASH, a runner among the 10 biggest, is the exception. Tycoons go the other way: 29% of new hits, against 10% of the games that stayed small.
Smaller servers
The typical new hit fits 12 players in a server, against 20 for older top games. Tycoons often hold 5 to 8, and the two big ragdoll games, Ragdoll Reality and Realistic Ragdoll Engine, are single-player.
They update constantly
Every new hit had been updated in the past week, and the typical one had been updated within the last 9 hours of our reading.
They launch with light monetization, then add more
New hits sell a median of 4 game passes (around 199 Robux each) and 39 developer products. Older top games sell 83 products, and 45% of them have one priced at 10,000 Robux or more, against 10% of the new hits. Players come first; the bigger purchases come later.
Every hit is group-owned, usually by a brand-new group
All 42 new hits are owned by a Roblox group, and for 69% it's the only game in that group. Studios seem to start a fresh group for each game, which also makes a game simple to sell: the group changes hands, and the game goes with it.
What doesn't seem to matter
- Name style. Names that start with an action ("Steal a", "Feed the", "Build a") are no more common among hits (24%) than among games that stayed small (25%).
- Age rating. 69% of hits are rated Minimal, about the same as games that stayed small (72%).
- Rating. Hits sit at 92% and games that stayed small at 91%.
- A past hit. Only 26% of hits came from a creator with an earlier game past a million visits. Since studios start a new group per game, public data can't show who's really behind them.
The 42 hits launched in the last six months
How we did it
On October 28, 2026 we read every game on Roblox's public chart lists (1,016 games) and ranked them by players at that moment. We left out the 10 biggest (Steal An Egg, Murder Mystery 2, Brookhaven RP, Steal a Brainrot, Adopt Me!, [HIRED KILLER] Jujutsu Shenanigans, RIVALS, Blox Fruits, 99 Nights in the Forest, DONT SPLASH) so a few giants don't drown everything else, and kept the next 100. Of those, 42 launched in the last six months.
For comparison we took 100 young games (launched in the last six months) on the same lists with 300 to 3,000 players. For every game we read its genre, server size, update date, game passes, developer products, owner, the owner's other games and its content maturity rating, all from Roblox's public data.
This is one reading, so it shows what's true of today's hits, not why they hit. Some differences are results, not causes: a hit's group grows because of the hit. Roblox doesn't publish past player counts, so "the last six months" comes from launch dates.
Find them before they're on this list
Every hit here was once a small game growing fast. Spawnbook's daily board finds those games while they still have 500 to 15,000 players, prices them and shows how to reach the owner.
